Burgundy, one of the world's great wine-producing regions, is a land to be savoured and enjoyed at a very gentle pace. Driving through the country village is like reading a wine merchant's list; so many of the names are familiar. Be sure to stop and take the opportunity of tasting in the local 'caves' whenever you can. The sophisticated towns of Macon, Auxerre, Dijon, seat of the Dukes of Burgundy, and Beaune, the 'wine capital', are all fascinating to visit. Their wealth is reflected in the elegant old buildings, unusually brightly tiled roofs and ancient ramparts - you will be completely enchanted.
